(1) A Consumer Protection Council will be formed to formulate policies on matters related to the protection of consumer rights and interests and to give suggestions to the Government of Nepal regarding the rights and interests of consumers.
(2) The council under sub-section (1) shall have the following chairman and members -
(a) Minister of Supply or Minister of State for Supply – Chairman
(b) … … …
(c) Secretary, Ministry of Supply – Member
(d) Secretary, Ministry of Industries – Member
(e) Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture – Member (f) Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs – Member
(g) Secretary, Ministry of Commerce – Member
(h) Director General, Nepal Quality and Weights and Measures Department – ​​Member
(i) President, Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Member
(j) Three representatives nominated by the Government of Nepal from non-governmental organizations related to the rights and interests of consumers - members
(k) Two women representatives nominated by the Government of Nepal from among the women working in the fields related to the rights and interests of consumers - members
(l) Officials of the Government of Nepal designated by the Government of Nepal - Member
(3) The term of office of the members nominated in accordance with clauses (j) and (k) of sub-section (2) shall be two years and they may be re-nominated for one term.
(4) The chairman and members of the council will receive meeting allowance as determined by the Government of Nepal.
